Banana is not only a fruit but also equivalent to complete nutrient food. It contains high percentage of potassium along with other minerals and vitamins.
When you get bored of eating Banana as it is, try something like this. For sure you will like this. There are many varieties of Banana of which Cavendish banana ( Paccha baale) is preferred for doing any recipes with it, since it has got nice aroma than other Banana types.
Ingredients
White rice - 1 cup
Jaggery pieces - 1/2 cup
Cavendish Banana - 2 medium size
Maida/All purpose flour - 1 spoon (Used for for softness. Instead of Maida, can use pinch of baking soda also but personally I don't prefer using baking soda.)
Salt
Method
1. Wash rice, drain water and soak it in 1 cup of fresh water for about an hour.
2. After an hour, drain water from soaked rice. For this soaked rice, add chopped Banana, Jaggery and 1/2 cup of water and grind to fine paste.
3. Add salt and Maida. Mix it well. No lumps should be present. Now batter is ready, keep it aside for half an hour.
Note: If you have used baking soda instead of Maida, you can prepare Guliyappa directly. Need not keep it aside for half an hour.
4. Heat Appam tawa, put 1/2 scoop of above batter to each of the pits and put 1/4 or 1/2 spoon of Ghee on top of it as shown in picture 1. Cover with a lid.
5. After few seconds, check if upper portion is cooked (Observe in picture 2). If so make all Guliyappa upside down as shown in picture 2.
6. After few seconds, take it out of tawa and serve with Ghee.
