This dish is one of the specials of karnataka and is very nutritious and delicious. Nutritious because it is a unique combination of vegetables, many cereals and spices.
IngredientsRice - 1/2 to 3/4 medium cup
Toor dal/Thogari bele/Pigeon pea - 1/2 medium cup
Bisibele bath powder - 2 to 3 spoons
Aloo/Potato - 1
Carrot - 1
Beans - 5 to 6
Curry leaves - 10
Ghee - 2 spoons
Ground nuts - 1 fist
Mustard - 2 spoons
Turmeric - a pinch
Salt
Method
1. Chop all vegetables in the above list into medium size pieces.
2. Pressure cook rice, dal, vegetables and salt together using 1 to 1 1 /2 cup of water. ( 1 whistle is sufficient for cooking it directly in pressure cooker without extra vessel).
3. In a pan, heat ghee and fry ground nuts until it changes the color.
4. Now add mustard seeds and curry leaves.
5. When mustard splutters, turn off the flame and add Bisibele bath powder. Mix well.
6. To this paste, add cooked rice, dal and vegetable mixture and mix well.
7. Bisibele bath should be semi liquid in nature. So add water and accordingly salt if required.
Oh!! finish it is ready...Serve hot with spicy boondi or any spice mixture.
