Ingredients
White Rice - 1/2 cup
Moong dal/ Split green gram - 1/2 cup
Grated jaggery - 3/4 cup OR 2 big lemon size jaggery pieces
Salt
Ghee - 1/2 to 3/4 cup
Cashew nuts - 10
Raisins - 10
Method
1. Pressure cook rice and moong dal together along with pinch of salt.
2. In a vessel, put grated jaggery and 1/4 cup of water. Let it boil.
3. Now put cooked rice and dal to this jaggery syrup and mix well.
4. Now put 1/2 cup of ghee over this and mix well. Let it be on flame for 2 minutes. Then turn off the flame.
5. In a pan, put 1 spoon of ghee. When it is heated, put cashew nuts and fry until it changes color. Then put raisins. When raisins pluffs, put this over pongal.
Sweet pongal is ready !!!
