Tips for you

Hiiii......
Here I am going to write the tips that are useful in kitchen as and when I get through my experience, my family , friends etc..

1. For every sweet dish that is prepared using water, add a pinch of salt. That increases the taste.

2. For every spicy item that is prepared using tamarind or lemon juice add a pinch of sugar. It increases the taste.

3. For every green colored vegetable say beans, leafy vegetables, pea etc ...while cooking add a pinch turmeric. It gives pleasant color.

4. If you want to maintain the vegetable color even after cooking, then always remember to cook it open i. e. Never pressure cook. While cooking in bowl, do not cover with lid.

5. The vegetables like Brinjal and Elephant foot yam do not cook properly if you add tamarind juice. So cook it properly then add tamarind juice.

6. While preparing salad from Cucumber, add salt at the moment before you serve. Otherwise salt will drain water from the cucumber and salad becomes watery.

7. After cutting Potato or Brinjal, put it in water. So that it maintains its color. Otherwise it becomes black.

8. Apply curd/sour butter milk to hands before you cut raw banana. Otherwise your fingers will get temparorily a bit dark patches.

9. Applying sour butter milk/curd to hands avoid chayote (seeme badane) wax getting stuck to hands.

10. If vegetables like cucumber, ridge gourd, bottle gourd etc is bitter than its usual taste, Do not throw it. Instead follow this...
                1. Wash rice thoroughly with water and take that water without rice.
                2. Cut the bitter vegetable into pieces and soak it in the above water for an hour.
Oh!!! magic....Bitterness is gone !!!!!!!

11. Before cooking any grams/pulses soak it in water for minimum two hours. So that it cooks faster.

12. While storing the vegetables inside the fridge, cover the vegetables with polythene(plastic) cover. Otherwise the vegetables will dry out soon.

13. To store the butter for long time, keep it in fresh water. Do not forget to change the water everyday.

14. Wash the vessels night itself. Do not keep till morning. Otherwise your kitchen will be kingdom of cockroaches.!!!!!

15. If you want to prepare dosa roasted to honey color then while grinding, add fistful of soaked beaten rice/avalakki/poha to the batter. Soak avalakki for 1/2 an hour.

16. Do you want poori to be pluffed???? Then do not roll out poori to be very thin. After putting it in hot oil, splash that hot oil carefully on top of poori. So that it pluffs like ballon..!!!!

17. Put the cut pieces of cauliflower/phoolgobi/hookosu in boiled water mixed with salt. So if any warms are present it comes up.

18. When you get lady's finger/ Bendi / Bende kai / Okra, cut off two top and bottom parts to less than1/4 inch. So that it remains tender.

19. Before cutting Elephant foot yam, apply tamarind juice to your hands, so that you won't feel itchy.

20. Do not store onions in side the fridge. It will rot.

21. To safe guard sweets from ants, take a tray with full of water; keep sweet container in it. Ants can not cross that water.

22. Do not wash lady's finger/ Bendi / Bende kai / Okra after cutting it. It will be too sticky and can not eat. Instead wash it first, wipe off the water with a clean cloth and let them dry. Now cut it into pieces.
