Ingredients

Toor dal / thogari bele / Pigeon pea - 1/2 cup
Lemon - 1/2 part
Green chilley - 2
Salt
Oil - 1 spoon
Mustard - 1 spoon
Turmeric - a pinch
Coriander leaves - 1 spoon
Asafoetida ( hing ) - a pinch
Method

1. Soak Toor dal for an hour in water so that its cooking time minimizes.
2. Add half cup of water to toor dal and pressure cook it.
3. Mash the cooked dal so that it turns to coarsely ground paste.
4. Add salt, 2 cups of water and boil it.
5. In a pan, heat the oil; add mustard seeds. When it splutters add chopped green chilly. Mix this tadka with mashed dal.
6. Sprinkle the chopped coriander leaves on top.
7. Add Lemon juice and sprinkle asafoetida.
Lemon rasam is ready !!!!! Do not forget to mix as and when you serve. Because the mashed dal gets stored at bottom. So each time before you serve, mix it well.
